How to Customize Windows 10 PC Settings to Suit Your Needs

Windows 10 comes with innovative features and personalization options. Users can change the way their PCs are looking and working to make sure they get a pleasant experience with Windows 10. There are lots of settings that can be changed to personalize the PC and the graphical interface such as the desktop, the start menu, windows, icons and many other visual elements. Users can also configure devices such as printers, mouse, keyboard and more.

PC settings should be one of the very first places to explore when you upgrade to Windows 10 because the way the settings are organized and customized has changed from Windows seven, to eight, to ten.

1. Display settings

Go to: Start -> Settings -> System. In the display section, you can change the size of texts in apps and the brightness level of sliders.

Go to: Start -> Settings -> System. Open the Advanced display settings. Here you can change the screen resolution and some other things such as Color calibration or Clear Type text.

3. Set the text size

Go to: Start -> Settings -> System. Open the Advanced display settings. and go toAdvanced sizing of text and other items.Here you can set the text size of different items.

4. Choose a mouse pointer

Go to: Start -> Settings ->Ease of access -> Mouse. Here you can choose the mouse pointer, color, etc.

5. Animation settings

Go to: Start -> Settings -> Ease of access -> Other options. Here you can decide if you want to play animations, if the background to be displayed, etc.

6. Personalize color and transparency

Go to: Start -> Settings -> Personalization -> Colors. Here you customize the color and transparency.

7. Customize the Lock Screen

Go to: Start -> Settings -> Personalization -> Lock screen. You can choose the image to use for the lock screen background.

8. Advanced personalization settings

Go to: Start -> Settings -> Personalization -> Start.Modify settings to show apps suggestions, full-screen display or recently opened items.

9. Mouse functionality

Go to: Start -> Settings -> Devices -> Mouse & Touchpad. Here you can switch the mouse buttons or set the number of lines to scroll with the mouse wheel.

10. Notification settings

Go to: Start -> Settings -> System -> Notifications & actions. Here you choose the items you want to display in the taskbar and turn the notifications on or off.

11. Change System icons

Go to: Start -> Settings -> System -> Notifications & actions -> Turn system icons on or off. Show or hide different system icons.

12. Snap settings

Go to:Start -> Settings -> System -> Multitasking. The snap options automatically change the app windows size. Here you can turn these options on or off.

13. Sleep settings

Go to:Start -> Settings -> System -> Power and sleep.Here you can set what your laptop to do when it runs on battery power, close the lid, choose when to turn off the screen, and more.

14. Tablet PC settings

Go to:Start -> Settings -> System -> Tablet mode. Tablets or laptops with touch screens can use the tablet mode. Here you can turn it on and off.

15. Change the default apps

Go to:Start -> Settings -> System -> Default apps. The default apps are always associated with different file extensions and for certain tasks. This section allows to change the default apps to another app.

    Found some great things I didn’t know. Have some vision problems and this helped.
    Remaining Problem. Have an HP Pavilion Entertainment PC that was Windows 7 and now windows 10. But at the bottom of the screen is a multicolored bar that covers some clickable items in some programs, like the print button at the bottom of a program is almost completely hidden by the color bars. I changed the screen resolution and am hoping that makes whatever is at the bottom of the page now visible..
    Fingers crossed resolution change works.
