Apple is constantly the subject of rumor when it comes to the next iPhone. No sooner has the latest model been released than new speculation surrounding the next appears. The iPhone 6 name appeared even before the iPhone 5S was launched, with some reports believing that 5S would be called 6. Of course, this wasn’t the case.
We would fully expect Apple’s next phone model to be the iPhone 6, but how it would be positioned alongside any iPhone 5C replacement, we cannot be sure. There are definitely some rumors around two separately sized devices.
Here we round-up iPhone 6 release date, news and rumors to see what the next generation of iPhone could bring with it
Ending months of speculation regarding when this awaited gadget will enter the realms of reality, Apple has now issued formal invites to its launch event. It is confirmed that Apple will be holding an event on 9th September, 2014, as anticipated. We’re 99.99% that this will be the official launch date of the iPhone 6. Apple has already sent invitations to the press with the following message:“9.9.2014. Wish we could say more.”
The event is supposed to take place at the Flint Center for the Performing Arts in Cupertino, San Francisco at 10am standard time, instead of the Apple’s usual venue at the Yerba Buena Center in San Francisco. It’ significant that Apple has changed its venue in that, the Flint Center can hold around 3,000 people, which is a lot more than the Yerba Buena Center which has a capacity of 700. This clearly shows that Apple aims at inviting more analysts, press and industry people than usual. The venue holds Apple’s history as it’s where the company unveiled the Macintosh in 1984, introduced the iMac in 1999, and Apple held an event earlier this year at the Flint Center to celebrate the launch of Mac 30 years previously.
- When is it out? iPhone 6 release date is September 19
- What will it cost? From $649, £539, AU$869 SIM-free
Additionally, Apple appears to be erecting a two story building in the grounds near the launch venue. It’s alleged that the building will house Apple’s alilhands on’ area where journalists get to try out new products. The iPhone line-up gets refreshed roughly once per year The iPhone 6 is thus expected to launch in September 2014, nearly a year later than iPhone 5S and iPhone 5C, which were introduced on September 10, 2014 and hit the market on 20th September. If Apple follows the same pattern as it did last year the phone will be previewed on 9th September, and will be available for purchase on 19th September. There surprisingly a big number of reports saying that we will get 2 new iPhone this year, with one of them falling under the 5111Phablet’ category.
One of the most discussed elements about the iPhone 6 is its screen. Pretty much every rumor says that the iPhone 6 will be way bigger than the iPhone 5S. Among those setting this idea of a bigger iPhone in motion is KGI analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, who has a very remarkable track record concerning Apple launches’ predictions. He expects 2 new iPhones to arrive this autumn, one with a 4.7icnh display and the other a 5.5inch display. The latest reports from the supply chain claims that Foxconn, Apple’s main manufacturing partner, will be building most of Apple’s 4.7″ and 5.5″ iPhones, whereas Wistron will be building Apple’s 4″ iPhone, which could just be a continuation of the iPhone 5S.
In addition to the huge screen size, it’s expected that the iPhone 6 will introduce a bit of a new design. The gadget will have little or no bezels, and many reports shows that the iPhone 6 will’ve a thinner, lighter chassis. iPhone 6’s dimensions will be 138mm by 67 mm, compared to the 123.8mm by 58.6 mm of the iPhone 5S. The thinner and lighter chassis could be made possible through the use of Liquid Metal, which is a material under Apple’s exclusive rights. It is extremely strong and durable, and this means it can be used in lesser quantities and get the same level of build quality as aluminum.
It’s confirmed that the iPhone 6 will employ an &ledge to edge’ display and a design which resembles the iPad mini. This means the end of the flat sides which have been around since iPhone 4. It is also thought that iPhone 6 will have Sapphire glass display, which is “virtually scratch-free” and “nearly indestructible.” These are quite remarkable features to think of – don’t you think?
