This book is intended as a text for a one or two semester introduction to topology. The subject of topology also serves to lay the foundation for future study in analysis, geometry, and in algebraic topology. In choice of material to be treated, this book attempts to strike a balance between these various points of view. Part one of this text is devoted to general topology. Part two constitutes an introduction to the subject of Algebraic toplogy. Sets of supplementary exercises appear at the ends of several of the chapters. They provide an opportunity for exploration of topics that diverge somewhat from the main thrust of the books.
